About the rabbitry: Small Packages Rabbitry is located in Coshocton, OH. Owned by Laura Johnson, it is one of the only local rabbitries to specialize in Jersey Woolies! It is home to approximately 32 rabbits, of which 10 are around 3 weeks old. Originally intended to be a 4-H project started in 1994, it has also become simply a joy to own rabbits.
My Rabbit Breeds
There are four breeds of rabbits that I raise. They are the Jersey Wooly, the Mini Rex, the Florida White, and the Netherland Dwarf.
The Jersey Woolies are known for their friendly attitude. They weigh around four pounds, so they are easy to handle. Jerseys come in about five varieties (color groupings), the most common of which are Self, Tan, and Shaded. They are especially recognized for their soft, thick wool. Their fur is easy to manage( just brush it about once a week) though it is long and fuzzy. So all you Jersey Wooly owners...Strut Your Fluff!
The Mini Rexes have short but extremely soft and silky fur. They weigh about four pounds and come in a fair amount of varieties. Mini Rexes are curious about everything and are easy to care for and handle.
The Florida Whites only come in one color..white. They weigh about five pounds and are market rabbits, which means food!
The Netherland Dwarf is tied for smallest breed, weighing in (with the Dwarf Hotot) at two and a half pounds when full grown. Because of that, their nice attitudes, and their almost bewildering variety of colors, they have quickly become one of the most popular breeds.
